Looking Forward To... The Seelie Players

For their 25th anniversary season, the Bristol Renaissance Faire has a number of well-loved entertainment acts, along with a smattering of new performers. The one new act I am most excited about is "Sirena," as performed by The Seelie Players.

According to their Facebook page, The Seelie Players "is a traveling performance arts troupe. We perform nationwide at renaissance festivals, corporate events, private parties, or any special occasion that needs a touch of fantasy. We offer fantasy and atmosphere characters such as fairies, living dolls, and human statues; and we love creating brand new characters to fit specific events."

The Sirena: From Down Below We Sing show will feature members of The Seelie Players portraying sirens of the sea who use original songs and drumming to entice and enchant audience members.

Snippets of music from their show sound gorgeous - click here to listen.

And get a load of these character photos - who wouldn't want to see these ladies perform?

Reader Tips - Renaissance Faire Fun

Mystic Moon Media has some of the best patrons to ever roam the grounds of the Bristol Renaissance Faire, which is located in Bristol, Wisconsin.

On Saturday, July 7, the 25th season of the Bristol Faire begins and we expect to see each and every one of you visit the shoppe to say hello. Since many people aren't frequent renaissance faire visitors, we asked some of our Facebook and Twitter fans for their best tips.

Most of these tips will work for any renaissance faire, but some may be more Bristol-specific.

1. First thing to do is get a map and a schedule of the shows. That really helps you to plan your day. Also, time your lunch at off times. Don't eat at 12:00 or 1:00, you will wait in long lines and not find a seat.

2. Know where the drink stands are, especially the ones with water!

3. Wear natural fabric clothing, it breathes!

4. The loud boisterous greetings at the front gate scared the crap out of my 3 year old and it took her 2 hours to recover and have fun. Try and avoid the greeters if you have young ones!

5. Try to go in costume. It enhances the experience. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate. I started out years ago with something simple. I just added to my outfit every year.

6. Don't worry about being 'perfect'. Just relax and have fun with the experience.

Awesome Artists - MacLeod Dragons

There are many amazing fantasy artists these days, creating everything from fairies to goblins. But sometimes you come across an artist who is making something so unique and incredible, you just have share their masterpieces with all your fantasy-loving friends.

Please allow me to introduce you to the work of Ryan MacLeod of MacLeod Dragons. He hand sculpts, paints, and assembles dragon figures that are both adorable and remarkably detailed.

More photos and information about Ryan's exceptional sculptures can be found at www.macleoddragons.com and you can also check out his Facebook page here

"Fay of Season" The Collection of the Queens...

They are done!  This year I have been working on a collection of Fairy Queens.  This collection is called "Fay of Season".  In this collection I have made the four fairy queens... Sovereign of Spring, Sovereign of Summer, Sovereign of Autumn, and Sovereign of winter.

I have introduced you to Spring and Summer... but here are the other two... Autumn and Winter.
Sovereign of Autumn was my favorite to create of this collection.  I just love fall and it is my favorite time of year.  I wanted to give this Queen a feeling of change... thus having the lively green colors fading into oranges, reds, and browns.
Sovereign of Winter was harder for me to create... but I am very happy with the way she turned out.  Normally I do not work in pastels as I prefer the earthy color palate as within Sovereign of Autumn.  Yet... with a great deal of trial and error I think that I am starting to understand this palette of colors better.  As for the queen herself... I wanted her to be the purity of winter... with icicle-like hair... to the frosted feel of her wings.

I will have this collection available in my shoppe at the Bristol Renaissance Faire this year.
Thanks again for reading my babble... until another creation...
Cherie
